What was the goal?
The project addressed the challenge that students, although having access to various digital media, primarily relied on PowerPoint as their main presentation tool. The project group wanted to find out whether this one-sided use of media was due to a lack of knowledge or support, and aimed to give students more opportunities for creative expression.
How did the project proceed?
The project began with a brainstorming session and an initial meeting with the teacher, who outlined the main issue. A student survey followed to gather insights into their media usage and preferences.
The results showed that students were already familiar with digital tools and enjoyed using them. Based on these findings, the team developed a classroom activity on the topic of “Food Groups,” in which students were asked to create an educational video. The task included clear instructions and suggested tools to support students in producing their videos.
What were the results?
The survey revealed that students were aware of different presentation methods but tended to feel overwhelmed when tasks became more complex.
The final classroom activity was successfully implemented and positively received by the teacher. Feedback indicated that the clear structure and focus on a new medium (educational video) helped students gain confidence in choosing and using media, and motivated them to experiment with more creative presentation formats.
