Digital Tools in English Language Teaching

What was the goal?

The aim of the project was to support a teacher in integrating digital tools and AI-based applications into English lessons in laptop classes. The project group sought to develop a “tool portfolio” that would help the teacher select and use suitable digital applications to make learning more interactive and effective. This portfolio was also intended to serve as a long-term resource and to inspire other teachers.

How did the project proceed?

The project began with a needs analysis through conversations and virtual meetings with the teacher to understand the specific requirements and challenges in the classroom. Based on these insights, the group compiled a set of tools and methods suitable for laptop-based teaching.

These included, for example, guides on using OneNote as a digital notebook, Live Worksheets, as well as AI tools such as ChatGPT and LanguageTool. The tool portfolio was continuously adapted and expanded based on the teacher’s feedback and additional research.

What were the results?

The tool portfolio enabled the teacher to make targeted use of digital applications that enriched lessons and simplified administrative tasks. Feedback showed that the portfolio proved useful both in lesson planning and during classroom activities.

Overall, it served as a comprehensive support tool and provides a solid foundation for making teaching in laptop classes more digital, engaging, and interactive.
